We all despise the sight of those brown nuisance sneaking around our homes. They do not only gross you out, but they carry along potentially dangerous bacteria which can contaminate your food. What’s worse, these little creatures are impossibly difficult to get rid of. Thankfully, there are solutions and ways to free your home from unwanted pests, inexpensively. Read on to know how.

Keep your house clean

This might seem very obvious but it’s important to keep your house clean if you want to permanently get rid of cockroaches from your house and avoid getting them again. Food and dirt is what attracts them in the first place. So ensure you clean up after every meal and dispose trash frequently.

Bay leaves

Roaches detest the smell of bay leaves. Crush some bay leaves and sprinkle it over their usual hiding place or nests. You can also avoid them from entering your home by having some bay leaves around the house.

Clean with ammonia

Cleaning with ammonia brings out an unpleasant smell which you might be comfortable with. If it doesn’t bother you then you can try cleaning your counter tops with ammonia. If this method works for you, then you can clean the affected areas by mixing two cups of ammonia with a bucket of water and use that as a cleaning solution.

Make sticky tape traps

This is a simple yet very effective tip which can control the pests from entering you territory. Simply put pieces of the tape around the house with the sticky side up. Place them near openings the roaches use to enter the house (cracks, floorboards).

Use hairspray

As an alternative option to pests spray, a hairspray can help to catch roaches and immobilize their movement, as their wings and legs will be sticky. They will eventually suffocate and die after sometime. For some, this trick is kept as a last resort as they find the act too cruel.
