Picture this – You put on a full face of makeup in the morning before you head out the door for work, and right after that comes your weekly yoga sesh in the evening. You hop into the bathroom, look into the mirror and what do you see? Your face beaming from within, with your makeup worn in yet looking radiant and healthy, with just enough showing through. That exactly depicts yoga skin, the latest makeup technique blowing up on Instagram.

Sara Hill, a UK-based makeup artist explains how you can fake it till you make it sans the actual exercise with a step-by-step tutorial. She says of the technique that has been catching on with global makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts, “Healthy, glowing, hydrated, radiant, sheer, and natural. Skin that looks like skin at its very best.” Here’s how you can achieve the look at home..

Start by cleansing and prepping the skin as per usual, but allow the skincare to fully sink in before layering a primer on top. Then, Hill makes a cocktail by fusing three to four pumps of liquid foundation, one drop of face oil and one drop of liquid highlighter together. She then applies the mixture on the skin with her hands, saying, “It gets the circulation flowing, relaxes you, de-puffs, and makes the base sit better too.”

“Build up in layers on top until you are happy with the coverage created. I would recommend allowing time between layers,” she continues. Following that, she suggests adding a small amount of concealer, but only where you need extra coverage, such as on blemishes and under the eyes. She then uses a cream blush or bronzer before setting the look with a light dusting of powder.

To retain that dewy finish on the skin without mattifying it, Hill avoids baking and using any setting sprays that contain alcohol. This versatile look doesn’t just look good with minimal eye and lip makeup, but works wonderfully with bolder, more intense colours too. Now, good luck and get glowing as if you’ve clocked in actual hours at the studio!
