The world’s tallest skyscrapers and structures often do not escape the bucket lists of avid travellers around the globe. And as of late, a new player has joined the ranks of the Burj Khalifa in United Arab Emirates, the Shanghai Tower in China and the Kingdom Clock Tower of Saudi Arabia – India’s latest Statue of Unity, measuring at 182 metres or 597 feet.
Made with 7,416,080 cubic feet of cement, 25,000 tons of steel and 1,700 tons of bronze, the statue, now the tallest of its kind in the world, honours India’s first deputy prime minister Vallabhbhai Patel who contributed significantly in leading the country to independence. It is twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty in New York.
On the banks of the Narmada stands the majestic statue of a great man, who devoted his entire life towards nation building.

Erected in Gujarat, the Statue of Unity took 33 months to build and was unveiled to the public on Patel’s birthday, also known as National Unity Day. It is almost 100 feet taller than China’s Spring Temple Buddha, measuring at 502 feet. All the more reason for you to visit India soon!
