Have You Ever Wondered How Many Calories Your Bubble Tea Contains?

Bubble tea is so readily available that it is practically in every shopping mall and corner of the street. As if bubble tea isn’t already popular enough, more and more chains are springing up everywhere and our options are infinitely endless. The truth of the matter is that bubble tea isn’t as harmless as you may have thought and here’s why.

The tea, milk and tapioca pearls that make up your bubble tea not only have alarmingly high levels of sugar, the deliciously chewy tapioca balls – boiled then saturated with sugar for enhanced flavour – are, well, purely carbs. Each little ball can add up to 14 calories and just a small amount may just add over 100 extra calories to your drink.

One bubble tea contains about 50 grams of sugar and nearly 500 calories, with no nutritional value whatsoever. While we aren’t discouraging you from making your usual order, think about what you can do to make your drink a little less damaging on the body! Try reducing the amount of sugar and even swapping out the tapioca balls for other toppings.
