Denzel Washington plays Tobin Frost, one of the best ops men that the CIA’s known. Or rather, what used to be the best ops men that the CIA’s known. Tobin turned when he gave up his assets and sold military intel to anyone with cash.
With his turning point, he caused immeasurable damage to the U.S. But even the smartest intelligent officers suffer falls. And after eluding capture for almost a decade, the CIA finally has their grips around Tobin’s limbs, immobilizing him from any further illegal trades.
After chucking him into the CIA “safe house” in Cape Town, a young CIA agent named Matt Weston (played by Ryan Reynolds) is handed the task of looking after the fugitive Tobin. Matt only has one dream – to be a full-fledged agent. And what better opportunity should come along but one that requires him to keep Tobin on his watch?
Of course, CIA duties are not made of fairy tales and soon after, mercenaries come and tear apart the “safe house”. Barely escaping, the unlikely partners (Tobin and Matt) but discover if their attackers have been sent by terrorists or someone on the inside who will kill anyone standing in the way:
Who wants them dead? Will they figure out who they can trust before they’re both eliminated from the game? There’s only one way to find out. And that is, to catch the “Safe House” when it hits our silver screens on the 9th of February 2012.
