When you think of your dad’s style, it’s likely that you either ask yourself “what style”, or simply picture a few signature pieces: light-wash jeans hiked up to new heights with the help of a dark leather belt, old, comfy flannel shirts paired with tucked-in t-shirts, and of course, those shoes.
The classic dad shoes which probably look something like this:

These retro-inspired kicks have a chunky design, thick sole, and usually a mix of suede and nylon materials.
It might be hard to believe, but your dad’s favourite pair of bulky, chunky, Michelin Man-esque shoes may have actually inspired a high-fashion trend, one that has not only been hijacked by expensive high-end design houses like Balenciaga, but also sold by brands like Nike, Under Armour, and New Balance.
In fact, the style has been selling out in the millions, which is ironic considering the fact that your dad would probably never dream of spending hundreds of dollars on sneakers.
However, there’s a teeny tiny problem with these comfortable shoes. A lot of people actually really hate them, with some saying the trend “must die” and others asking to leave these sneakers back in 1990s. LOL
Despite the haters, major celebrities including the likes of Kim K, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are having a fashion moment with the sneakers, even bringing them when they travel around the world!
On the picture above, Kendall was spotted wearing black dad shoes at Coachella 2018, while Kim Kardashian channeled her anime enthusiasm in an all grey attire during her recent trip to Japan.
