Japanese lifestyle clothing retailer UNIQLO will be partnering with Bottega Veneta’s creative director Tomas Maier who operates his own namesake brand and shares a similar style vision pertaining to functional basics. Made for both men and women, the tomas maier and uniqlo resortwear collection will drop worldwide in stores and online early summer of 2018.
The accessibly priced collection will integrate a “time off” and “escape” philosophy of tomas maier into the framework of UNIQLO’s LifeWear concept which champions sophisticated yet understated clothing to enhance everyday life. Akin to Maier’s design aesthetic, expect to find refined styles in natural materials such as linens, fine cotton and raffia.
On the collaboration, Maier said, “The concept of my brand is based on simple, yet sophisticated designs. tomas maier is all about clothes for time off – a way for people to enjoy a much-needed escape from some of the complexities of modern living. I am confident that we were able to incorporate UNIQLO’s remarkable technologies and expertise successfully into our collaboration line, which I hope can help people to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.”
Maier joins a cluster of fashion figures and leading designers who have previously worked with UNIQLO, including Jonathan Anderson, Christophe Lemaire, Inès de la Fressange, Jil Sander and more. Meanwhile, access www.uniqlo.com/my to check out its other offerings.
