Start calling and beeping everyone you know, because Disney Channel is officially bringing back Kim Possible for an upcoming live-action movie 16 years after the original series ended — and casting has begun!
The animated series, which ran from 2002 to 2007 and launched the franchise, featured two animated movies, Kim Possible: A Sitch in Time and Kim Possible: So The Drama, as well as books and video games, marking this as the first ever real-life iteration of Kim and gang.
If you need a refresher, the titular Kim (voiced by Even Steven’s Christy Carlson Romano) is a high school cheerleader who solved crimes in her spare time with the help of her best friend and sidekick Ron Stoppable (voiced by Boy Meets World’s Will Friedle), his naked mole-rat Rufus, and 10-year-old computer whiz, Wade (Smart Guy’s Tahj Mowry).
Series creators Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley are executive producing and writing the upcoming movie, with Josh Cagan also writing, and Zanne Devine executive producing. Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky will co-direct and co-produce the upcoming movie.

While it’s definitely hard to imagine anyone other than Christy Carlson Romano playing Kim Possible, we can definitely understand the appeal in introducing the iconic teen to a new generation of Disney Channel viewers.
Will they cast one of Disney’s favourite breakout star Bella Thorne as Kim since she’s a red-head and all? Hmm.. while we’re at it, we’re going to need to pop over to Bueno Nacho for a taco or two while we digest the news.
Watch this space for more updates.
