This should have been implemented a long time ago, but better late than never, right?! AirAsia Bhd recently unveiled its own Fast Airport Clearance Experience System (F.A.C.E.S), a facial recognition system that allows for hassle-free check-in and boarding without having to present travel documents.

While it has only been launched at the Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru, the nation is also counting on AirAsia to integrate the same system at other Malaysian airports, especially Kuala Lumpur’s klia2 considering how crazy busy the airport gets on the daily.

Meant to revolutionise travel and cut short the queueing time for check-in and boarding, F.A.C.E.S reportedly has an 80% success rate and is claimed to reduce the boarding time from 11 and 13 minutes, to between 9 and 11 minutes. Your face literally serves as a boarding pass to clearing the gate and boarding will be a breeze.

F.A.C.E.S is now available for guests aged 18 and above, with a height of 145 to 190cm, and to use, travellers will have to complete a one-time enrolment process at kiosks located at the Senai International Airport. The identity document will be given an expiry date, and travellers will have to enrol again thereafter.
