It’s been four years since the first announcement about the possible closure of Petaling Jaya’s iconic fast food restaurant A&W along Lorong Sultan, and now its fate has officially been decided.
The 0.4ha land unfortunately has been approved for development, according to a source from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and this means that the demolition for the building will take place any time.
The development plans had also been approved, and would consist of a one-block, 20-storey office tower which houses a four-storey carpark. Initially, the plan was submitted for a 36-storey building but MBPJ reduced it to 20.
Many of us are evidently upset over A&W PJ’s impending closure, but may as well savour what is left of it. An official announcement will be made soon regarding the new development and when that happens, we will be updating all of you.
