20-year-old accounting and finance student Jane Teoh who hails from Penang was left in shock when she was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2018. She will be representing Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant and beat 16 other contestants for the crown.
Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 Samantha Katie James presented the part-time model with the crown and sash at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening, and aside from bagging the crown, the 178cm-tall student was also named Miss Online Personality.
Teoh during the pageant question and answer session said that she wanted to make a significant change in our society and inspire those around her, “I want to be remembered as a woman who made a difference. My wish as Miss Universe Malaysia is to spread my philanthropic work.”
According to the Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation national director Datin Elaine Daly, this year’s Beauty Beyond You theme sends a message to these young girls to be positive role models, quashing stereotypes tied to beauty pageants and attesting that they can be a platform for women to become leaders.
Teoh, who received a cash prize of RM50,000, sponsored prizes worth over RM150,000 and an education scholarship from HELP University, was joined by first runner-up Alexis SueAnn Seow Su-Yin, 22, second runner-up Liliana Fernandez, 20, and third runner-up Jasebel Shalani Robert, 22. Congratulations to all of you!
