Sushi-Stuffed Croissant Is Now A Thing, But A Lot Of People Are Saying NOPE

I love croissant, and I love sushi. But to morph the buttery, flaky French pastry with the chiefly seafood-based dish is… deeply puzzling.

While croissant isn’t terrible when converged with a donut — that’s a fact, as hoards of people have been flooding our Instagram feed with photos of the incredible cronuts — “cross-sushi”, which the Internet claims is a hybrid of croissants and sushi, is in fact, weird.

Whether it’s love at first glance or not, the “cross-sushi” a.k.a “California Croissant”, is real and it aims to be 2018’s next big food thang.

You can thank the bakery that started it all — Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, which has also birthed last year’s pastry fusion trend: the puffy “cruffin” (croissant/muffin). The outlets are available in Los Angeles, San Francisco as well as Seoul, South Korea.

#SanFrancisco has done it again with the '#sushi #croissant' — here's what it's like https://t.co/pMDbCN4TWc pic.twitter.com/4D1PioywrF

What happens when you cross a croissant w/ a plate of sushi? Violent nausea, I would assume https://t.co/QB0CXTW9dg

Although the pictures may look aesthetically pleasing, we assume that this food hybrid is not suited for the weak.
