Earlier in September, Robbie Williams cancelled his Russian tour dates due to health issues, and we later find out that the singer was hospitalised and ended up in the intensive care unit due to a worrying illness. In a recent interview, the English pop star finally shed light on his health, recalling the horrifying experience he will never forget.
It was during one of his tour concerts in Zurich on Sept 2 when Robbie found himself seriously ill, revealing, “My left arm went numb and I couldn’t stop dribbling out of the side of my mouth. I had a headache and I was also having trouble breathing. I couldn’t get a full breath.”
After preliminary examination, nothing was found to be serious and he was given permission to continue his successful Heavy Entertainment Show tour. Knowing that something wasn’t right, the singer-songwriter recalled, “After the show, my arm was still numb and my mouth was still dribbling. It was very scary. I was sent straight to ICU.”
With that said, Robbie still intended to continue on with his tour at first, admitting, “I saw myself as a soldier. I needed to finish what I’d started out, and I was going to go to Russia for the final two shows no matter what shape I was in”.
However after undergoing thorough scans and tests, the “Angels” singer found out that “there were some abnormalities found, including something on my brain that looked like blood.” He added, “That was obviously very scary, so the decision was taken out of my hands and I was sent straight to the intensive care unit.”
Robbie’s world turned upside down in split seconds, confessing, “It’s very weird to go from being on tour to suddenly being in intensive care, but that’s where I found myself.” It was even harder for him when his wife, Ayda Field was left to take care of their children in the U.S.
“And there I was in a little bed, attached to tubes,” he mentioned of the debilitating experience adding, “I was confused and scared, but I knew I was in the right place. And, maybe naively, I felt like I knew I was going to be OK.”
Now recovering, Robbie realises the importance of being health conscious and reveals his intention to lead a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally. “Now I am vegan, I do pilates every day. I do yoga every day and have a really big burger on a Sunday. I have a cheat meal. But I’m looking after myself. I know I’m going to be better than ever.”
Here’s to wishing Robbie Williams a speedy recovery and all the best in his future!
