An Artistic Gastronomy Experience With Guest Chef Pere Planagumà At The St. Regis KL

Ushering in the new year with the elegance of art, The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur is handing over the kitchen of The Brasserie to guest chef Pere Planagumà. For an exclusive weekend starting Jan 19 til Jan 21, the Spanish 2-Star Michelin Chef will be crafting an artistic gastronomic experience, taking inspirations from commissioned works of art within the hotel.

Promised to be a culinary work of art in itself, Chef Pere Planagumà is known for his minimalistic yet distinct cooking style, incorporating earthly ingredients into his signature dishes like white beans from Santa Pau, frozen cottage cheese with basil and anchovy or salted cod brandade with muscat grapes.

This time’s Brasserie takeover will be reenacting the works of Mark Evans’ leather mural Grace Thunders, Fernando Botero’s monumental sculpture, the Botero Horse and Barnaby Hosking’s three dimensional, Birds and Butterflies, backed by the chef’s fine culinary skills and multiple collaborations with legendary chefs worldwide.

Amongst the three nostalgic artworks that are coming to life through the culinary of Chef Pere, the most anticipated dish has got to be the imitation of St. Regis’ iconic 3-metre high and 2.5 tonne bronze Botero Horse that has even made it into the news when it was first transported to St. Regis Kuala Lumpur a few years back.

Along with the Grace Thunders that depicts a dramatic Polo game session and the three dimensional artwork inspired by birds and butterflies at the 129-year-old Lake Gardens located just opposite the hotel, be prepared to spark your wildest imaginations as these artworks are transported onto the tips of your palette.
