Dread it, run from it, but destiny still arrives. Perfectly summing up the Avengers: Infinity War, the highly anticipated superhero film finally released its first trailer of the 19th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series. Commencing the two-part finale of the Avengers series, the sequel to the 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron is undoubtedly massive.
Expected to be one of Marvel’s largest productions, the upcoming film unites almost every superhero in Marvel history to battle in the Infinity War. With characters like Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain American and more, the 2018 film brings together heroes from the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Thanos’ quest of collecting the Infinity Stones and save the universe.

The Avengers: Infinity War was first announced in 2014 when Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the 22 MCU films that we will witness in the next 5 years. However, this wasn’t the first time Marvel showed off a teaser for the fourth Avenger movie. Earlier in Disney’s D23 Expo and at San Diego Comic Con, some lucky fans already got their first glimpse of the trailer. But for the rest of us, this marks the first.
Directed by the Russo brothers, cameras for the superhero franchise with the cast Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson and more started rolling in January 2017. Shooting for a back-to-back sequel for Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2, the production ended in July this year.
Although there are two parts to the film, Kevin Feige emphasised in an interview that they are two distinct films and not one story cut in half like how movies usually are. To accentuate that, it was later revealed that the two movies will be retitled, with part 1 being Avengers: Infinity War and with part 2, still untitled, to be released in 2019.
Following the release of the trailer, Marvel also introduced the first look at the movie’s poster. While dates for the movie being released in Malaysia is still unknown, Avengers: Infinity War will hit the big screens on May 4, 2018, with the U.S. being the first. Can 2018 be here already?!
