Ever wondered what it is like to be born famous? Willow Smith may just have an answer for you. The 17-year-old daughter to Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith is one of the most influential celebrity teens in Hollywood – She’s got the fame, talent and the looks, but the starlet recently revealed that growing up in the spotlight was no fun at all.

“I’m going to be completely and utterly honest, it’s absolutely terrible,” said the “Whip My Hair” singer in a recent interview. Unlike most kids her age, being thrusted into the spotlight at such young age, Willow and her 19-year-old brother, Jaden Smith, lived a stressful childhood.

Though they each had their own successes, early fame left the siblings with a tough childhood, “Growing up and trying to figure out your life … while people feel like they have some sort of entitlement to know what’s going on, is absolutely, excruciatingly terrible — and the only way to get over it, is to go into it.”

The young actress confessed how hard it was living with paparazzi pounding on her every move, “You can’t change your face. You can’t change your parents. You can’t change any of those things.

“I feel like most kids like me end up going down a spiral of depression, and the world is sitting there looking at them through their phones, laughing and making jokes and making memes at the crippling effect that this lifestyle has on the psyche,” the R&B singer further implied on how social media makes things worse.

While we’re on the subject of invasion of privacy, the siblings are definitely not in this alone as many children of renowned celebrities and politicians like Brooklyn Beckham, Malia Obama and more have struggled with having their private life being exposed on social media.

Regarding this, Willow has her own take on the issue, “When you’re born into it, there are two choices that you have: I’m either going to try to go into it completely and help from the inside, or no one is going to know where I am and I’m really going to take myself completely out of the eye of society.

“There’s really no in between,” she said. Welps, what do you know? Perhaps being ordinary isn’t so bad after all, haha!
