Fresh off the boat of Sri Panwa, a luxurious haven in Phuket, Thailand, Joe Flizzow is now back with new music titled “Drop“. 🎉
The Malaysian rapper has had his biggest year in music in 2013 with the release of his iconic tunes “Havoc” and “Baek” as well as the massive single “Apa Khabar” from his collaboration with fellow musician SonaOne. But this time.. his latest song features a more vibe-y feel, which is slightly distinctive from his previous works.
Truth is, releasing this impressive track wasn’t an easy feat as his label Kartel Records was initially reluctant to grant the permission for him to do so.
“They (my label) had my best interests at heart. They wanted to know why I insisted on releasing Drop as my first new solo single in years. I said it’s a very personal song to me and I have a good feeling about it,” Joe Flizzow revealed.
The rapper had written two Malay-language singles that were ready for release titled “Sampai Jadi” and “Dua Lima Dua”, but when “Drop” came along, he just needed to get that out first.
Ultimately, the song is about taking chances and celebrating life into perspective. “Think about a drop in the ocean. It may feel like a small, insignificant event in life but it’s the simple things that we have to start appreciating and remembering.”
Joe also revealed that he wants to get out of his comfort zone and penetrate into the hip-hop scene in the United States.
“Hip-hop is very competitive and I don’t want to be one-dimensional. I want to connect with the world and Drop is the right song to do it. Whether it takes off or not, it doesn’t matter. I’m in a good place where I don’t want to regret not trying at all.”
Well, good luck with your future endeavours Joe. “Drop” is not only fresh, but it’s highly addictive as well. All the best! 💙
