For those of you who have too much to say but are stifled by Twitter’s limited 140 characters per tweet, your dreams of yapping on in a lengthy tweet is about to become a reality – Twitter is officially moving forward with plans to double its character count from 140 to 280!
I feel like I always needed extra characters but now that I have them I can’t think of anything really relevant to tweet #280characters pic.twitter.com/kT4gapdiTv

The social media platform made the announcement Tuesday in a blog post. “In September, we launched a test that expanded the 140 character limit so every person around the world could express themselves easily in a Tweet,” read the post.
"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Let's name the zones, the zones?! THE ZONES! Let's name zones of the open seaaaaaaaaaa! Theeeeeeeeeere's eipelagic, mesopelagic, bathyal, and abyssalpelagic, hadipelagic, and all the rest are too deep for you and me to seeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!" #280characters pic.twitter.com/fnu1uI80ac

“Our goal was to make this possible while ensuring we keep the speed and brevity that makes Twitter, Twitter. Looking at all the data, we’re excited to share we’ve achieved this goal and are rolling the change out to all languages where cramming was an issue.” Twitter also added later that “Japanese, Korean, and Chinese will continue to have 140 characters because cramming is not an issue in these languages.”…k.

Twitter explained that after monitoring the social media community and seeing data, they are making this change (after all these years!?!?!) to make it easier to tweet.
The worst thing about #280characters is realizing you spent half your life trying to shave off characters from tweets, and now you have nothing to distract you from your bottomless despair.
