We all know that Millie Bobby Brown’s character – Eleven – in Stranger Things has limited vocabulary. But many might not know that the actress herself actually dreams of conquering Broadway, even though she is deaf in one ear.
In an interview, the star of the hit Netflix series opened up about being born with partial hearing loss in one ear. Unfortunately, her condition slowly worsened to deafness in the following years.
However, this did not leave the 13 year old feeling sorry for herself. Instead, Millie is even more determined to perform better in her acting career as well as her dreams of performing in a Broadway musical.
Despite not being able to hear herself perform completely, the rising starlet doesn’t feel defeated, saying that, “I just started to sing, and if I sound bad I don’t care, because I’m just doing what I love.
“You don’t have to be good at singing. You don’t have to be good at dancing or acting. If you like to do it, if you genuinely enjoy doing it, then do it. No one should stop you,” she said, encouraging people to not give up in spite of difficulties.
The Spanish-born English actress, who has never received any official vocal training or coaching for acting, also disclosed that she yearned to become a singer since young, even before she started venturing in acting.
Millie was further warned by her Stranger Things co-stars cum Broadway actors Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin of Broadway productions’ tiring rehearsal schedules, but still did not hesitate on pursuing her dreams.
“That’s why I would like to, I think Broadway’s such a tough kind of routine,” she excitedly said. Just like Eleven, Millie’s inspiring story really showed us just how tough of a young woman she really is.
