Say what you will about its service, but AirAsia and klia2 will always be a godsend for us here in Malaysia, considering the state of our current national, and personal, financial situations. The beauty of this low-cost airline is that flights can get super affordable, so much so that Malaysia recently topped the list for having the cheapest flights in the world.
That said, things will change for the worse beginning January 2018. Although the Airport Tax (now called PSC) for international flights for klia2 are now cheaper, the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) will be jacking up the said PSC from RM50 to RM73 to standardise prices and ensure that other Malaysian airports won’t have to subsidise for klia2.
MAVCOM also argued that the facilities and services offered at klia2 are comparable to that of KLIA, hence there should be no reason for the PSC to differ either. Of course, AirAsia is currently trying to get MAVCOM to review the decision for the better of its customers and travellers of klia2, so.. let’s keep our fingers crossed!
