This beauty story is equal parts gross as it is horrifying, and will serve as a fresh reminder NEVER to use those grimy-looking testers at makeup stores on yourself!!
An American woman from California has claimed that she visited a Sephora store in October 2015 and sampled a lippie that was on display.. only to end up with herpes on her lip.
She claimed that the infection was diagnosed by medical professionals and that she had never had any herpes or cold sores prior to using that lippie tester at Sephora.
She has sued the multi-brand beauty store for emotional distress over an “incurable lifelong affliction”, and according to the documents, Sephora failed to warn its customers on the risks of contracting diseases from trying lipstick samples.
She added that other lipstick companies have precautionary measures to avoid the exposure of herpes, but Sephora was only too bothered about making a quick buck.
Sephora has yet to respond regarding the issue though we’re eager to find out what they’ll say. And again, everyone should know better NOT to test lipstick samples straight from the bullet onto the lips. It applies ANYWHERE, not just Sephora!
