Working from a cafe, conference calls from the pool or emailing while still laying in bed sounds like the ultimate dream when people think of working in non-traditional spaces. For many, working away from the office is basically paradise. However, there are only so many cafes that you can work at for hours on end before they send you signals that you’re outstaying your welcome.
Due to this, a number of coworking spaces have started popping up around Kuala Lumpur, encouraging freelancers and start-up owners alike to work comfortably under one roof. Recently, the Lipstiq team had the chance of spending a day at KL’s latest coworking space – Komune.
Spanning over 18,000 sqft in the UOA Corporate Tower, Komune opened its doors on 5 September and is probably one of the largest coworking spaces in Malaysia.
The whole space looks great – bright, warm and decked in Scandinavian design aesthetics, basically like something straight out of our #inspo pinterest boards! We even managed to have a mini-shoot of our lunch from Astro & myBurgerLab, thanks to the multiple photogenic spaces available at Komune.
Despite looking pretty, Komune is also equipped with everything you’d find/need in a regular office space – high-speed Internet, printing and scanning services, landline telephones, mailboxes as well as CCTV monitoring. It’s also got open booths for team huddles, private phone “booths”, an on-site cafe powered by Botanica Deli (always say yes to great coffee), a regular pantry (stocked with coffee and tea), lockers and a games arcade.
Conveniently located in UOA Corporate Tower (a designated premise within the MSC Malaysia Cybercentre at Bangsar South City), MSC Malaysia status companies will also be able to enjoy the MSC Malaysia Bill of Guarantees when they operate at Komune.
It’s also important to note that the monthly plans don’t only include entry to Komune or use of its open areas, all monthly plans will soon include a cashless k$ credit allocation, which you can use to reserve meeting rooms, rent lockers and mailboxes, print stuff and even purchase coffee and snacks from the on-site cafe.
Besides coworking, Komune’s open areas can also be converted into an event space with the capacity to host up to 200 people at a time. They’ll even throw in catering into the mix if you need it!
To enter Komune, you can either purchase a Day Pass for RM35 per person or one of the monthly Hot Desk plans available at Komune from RM490 per person. The Day Pass and Hot Desk plan gets you an unassigned work station in the open areas (meaning you get to sit basically anywhere within the lounge area).
In case you need your own space, you could get a dedicated work station in a shared area with a little more privacy via the monthly Dedicated Desk plan (RM 690 per person). Got 4 or more members in your team? Opt for one of Komune’s fully-furnished private offices at RM890 per person! These private spaces are lockable and available for up to 8 people in a room.
Personally, we loved working out of office at Komune. If you’re looking for a change of scenery from your regular office/cafe/home work setup, we implore you to give Komune a go today.
