This Taboo-Busting Sanitary Pad Ad Shows ‘Blood’ Instead Of Blue Liquid

It’s ironic how all females have their periods, and yet discussing menstruation still remains a cultural taboo in many parts of the world. That said, this sanitary pad company – Bodyform – is breaking boundaries with its latest ad that features ‘real blood’ instead of the conventional blue liquid in most.

The U.K. brand mentioned that it wanted to confront the stigma surrounding periods, and for its video campaign #BloodNormal with the slogan “no blood should hold us back”, a woman is shown in the shower with blood running down her thigh. A man then goes to buy her sanitary pads.

Evidently, the new and refreshing campaign has been well received as traditionally, blue liquid is often used to represent blood to show the audience how much moisture the sanitary pad is able to hold. It’s about damn time, don’t you think?!
