The beauty of indulging in a glass of whisky is that the way you prefer to have it is just as valid as anybody else’s, despite the malarkey hurled at you by whisky snobs and connoisseurs. The amalgamation of complex yet smooth flavours presented in that antidote in itself still never fails to arouse the senses, and The Singleton of Glen Ord manifests that notion with its annual Forgotten Drop Series release derived from its rarest whiskies.
The 2017 release showcases The Singleton of Glen Ord’s precious 41 Year Old made by the Master of Malt Maureen Robinson; its oldest whiskey unveiled since 1838, bottled at a cask strength of 49.9% abv. With just 600 bottles globally and only 24 in Malaysia, the 41 Year Old exhibits a pure yet distinct character with an outstanding depth of taste that further accentuates the fine balance and smoothness from the tropical fruit aromas and hints of oak The Singleton is known for.
Alongside the Forgotten Drop Series, The Singleton of Glen Ord unveiled its 18 Year Old Cask Strength, a limited edition bottling to commemorate the distillery’s 180th anniversary, bottled at a cask strength of 58.4% abv. The exceptional 18 Year Old offers a tinge of spicy flavour that underlines the aromas of walnuts and polished antique oak, with a gingery and earthy sweetness with full-flavoured fruity notes.
The Singleton of Glen Ord’s 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old and 18 Year Old recently bagged three Gold awards under the Taste Category at the highly accredited International Spirits Challenge 2017, and the invaluable 41 Year Old, too, is sure to leave a lasting and memorable impression amongst tipplers, especially in the Malaysian market where Singleton remains as one of the largest selling single malt labels.
The Singleton of Glen Ord’s 18 Year Old retails for a recommended retail price from RM624, whereas the 41 Year Old is priced at RM 15,193 per bottle. Both are available nationwide at authorised distributors. Alternatively, contact diageoinfo@mhdm.com.my.
