Ask any Malaysian and they’ll agree that Genting Highlands is one of the most haunted places throughout the country, but one crazy award-winning director Ryon Lee thought it’d be a wonderful idea to shoot a movie at the notoriously creepy Amber Court located right off Genting Highlands. It’s a horror flick no less, and if that’s not playing with fire, we don’t know what is.
Amber Court has long been recognised as one of the scariest condominium buildings ever and it’s now been completely abandoned due to the escalating number of deaths that have taken place. Premiering in Malaysian cinemas on October 19, Lee’s Haunted Hotel, which is filmed there, features Sushar Manaying (Thailand), Leon Li Chuan (China) and Teddy Chin (Malaysia).
Filming was completed in August 2016, and the plot is based on a Chinese female tourist who travelled to Genting Highlands with some friends. They ended up staying in Amber Court somehow, and terrifying things ensue, with them struggling to escape the hotel. Guess we’ll just have to watch it to see how the ending pans out! Hopefully, it won’t ruin Genting Highlands for us forever.
Haunted Hotel premieres October 19 2017. For updates, access this Facebook page.
