A mini-reunion between the members of Malaysia’s former beloved girl group Elite, at Abby Abadi’s recent wedding ceremony has garnered a lot of attention among netizens, especially from the band’s die-hard fans.
The gorgeous ladies performed their hit song “Manisnya Senyumanmu” (The Sweetness Of Your Smile) at the nuptial rite, igniting love and seriously nostalgic feels, which sparked their interest to plan a comeback in the near future.
“When our video went viral on social media, it’s surprising and overwhelming at the same time to find that Elite still have a lot of fans,” revealed Sasha Saidin, the elder sister of Zain Saidin.
The beautiful singer continued, “Even young kids who might have been influenced by their parents know about us and listen to our songs.”
“You can’t avoid us.. hahaha. Actually, the show was not even planned. We went on stage after Abby’s wedding organiser requested for us to do so and although Abby does not want to sing anymore, she was a good sport. We’re very excited!”
Sasha remarked that the video went viral because all of Elite members are still active in the entertainment industry and people love seeing them as a group. “I was actually planning to reunite all original members and thankfully, everyone agreed,” she added.
“It’s been a while since we are united on a stage and looks like fans have been waiting to see us for a long time.”
On top of that, Sasha revealed that Elite has received three songs from a local composer to be included in the group’s latest album. However, they are still talking about the band direction and song selection, so that their comeback can leave an impression and highlight Elite’s golden era.
“I don’t want to just launch a new song and then go back to our own things. I want to earn a great deal of excellence for Elite, including tour performances throughout Malaysia.”
So.. what say you? Will they make it happen, especially after all that bankruptcy ordeal? I mean, even megastars Spice Girls couldn’t make their highly anticipated reunion work.
With that said, we wish all the best to the girl group! Elite’s comeback will include Sasha Saidin, Azza Zawari, Watie Sadali as well as Linda Rafar.
