Tired of going to the same vacation spots, but you just can’t get enough of Southeast Asia? Well, good news because Bawah Island is now calling its first explorers to discover the rare ecosystem at this naturally lux retreat.

Located in the heart of the Indonesian Anambas archipelago, this ultimate hideaway is approximately three hours away from Singapore’s ferry terminal. It is accessible by a short ferry ride to Batam Island in Indonesia and then a 75-minute journey via private seaplane.

Previously uninhabited, Bawah Island is a marine conservation area where nature provides its true luxury across 5 pristine virgin islands, 3 crystal clear lagoons and 13 powder-white beaches.

Limited to 70 explorers (at a time), the luxurious private island also feature 150m high prime forest reserve for guests to re-connect with Mother Nature. Here’s 5 reasons why you need to check out this gorgeous sanctuary asap:

1. Lavish eco-designed suites

The rooms are enveloped in lush scenery with 21 Beach Suites offering breathtaking sea views, as well as 11 Over Water Bungalows which gives stunning dawn to dusk vistas and 3 Garden Suites shrouded by idyllic, natural scenes.

Each accommodation features a beautifully appointed bedroom, spacious bathroom and a relaxing outdoor living area with incredible views across the lagoon.

2. Aura, a holistic wellness centre

On top of the beach-fronted infinity pool, Aura houses a spa and a yoga pavilion which provides complete mind and body programmes designed to enlighten the senses, so one can explore and relax with a rejuvenated state of mind.

The wellness centre also offers personalised yoga, pilates, meditation, and reiki sessions from sunrise to sunset.

3. The Tree Top restaurant

The posh dining venue serves bespoke Asian-fusion cuisine with locally-grown ingredients alongside a curated drinks menu.

An alternative relaxation spot is also provided at the lower deck for diners to relax as they enjoy spectacular views of the ocean.

4. Uniquely-themed bars

Guests can also unwind with bespoke cocktails at the Grouper Bar, Jules Verne Bar, and Boat House Bar – situated at different zones on Bawah, each offering beautiful and distinctive sights of the surrounding islands.

4. Wood-panelled Library

In addition, Bawah houses a wood-panelled Library up in the tree tops, where a diverse collection of natural history, architecture, classic literature, maps and guidebooks are available for literary lovers to browse and indulge in.

All tented suites and public areas are made of materials like bamboo and recycled teak, while the bath and shower areas are constructed of recycled copper.

PS: Fishing and anchoring in Bawah’s waters are forbidden in order to protect the abundance of flora and fauna on the island. No pesticides are used too.

The Bawah Island experience, which can be booked now from RM8709 per night for two pax, includes:
