We thought we’ve seen the craziest in lip cosmetics what with colors like white to electric blue but lip tattoos? Before you raise any eyebrows, you’d be relieved to know that these lip tattoos by a company called Violent Lips are temporary but nothing like you’ve ever seen before and has been seen on various celebrities from Lady Gaga to Jessie J to the Kardashian sisters (uh oh, we see a trend here).
These wild lip tattoos are definitely not for the weak hearted or for parental viewing if we may add. Their designs range from Union Jack patterns, glitter designs, fun polka dots, bold animal prints and in every color you can imagine. Move aside falsies because these will turn heads and raise eyebrows. These pout worthy temporary lip tattoos are great for clubs, festivals, photo shoots, halloween, holiday parties, and especially for the non-makeup artist or impatient woman.
Originating from Santa Monica, Violent Lips tattoos come with a smooth and glossy finish, can be applied on any lips sizes and will last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. The brand was created by entertainment industry veteran Jeff Haddad and his daughters Isabella and Sophia.
The idea of this beauty product was conceived when Jeff’s nine-year old daughter won admiring comments for using temporary tattoos of Chanel on her lips. That was when Jeff realized that temporary tattoos for lips could be created.
The founder of Violent Lips, music manager Jeff Haddad said the lip tattoos were made out of necessity. He said, ‘We’ve been paying make-up artists to do this to our artists on shoots.’
Violent Lips is a line of natural and vitamin enhanced temporary lip tattoos that stay put from the stage to the after-party. These FDA approved, vegan lip tattoos, are tested on supermodels, not animals and made in America.
Unlike conventional temporary lip tattoos which is a non-invasive surgery that adds color and flatters the shape and line of your lips, Violent Lips will do the same for you and can be used safely by everyone (above the age of three) with the approval of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). No testing on animals, just supermodels!
You can purchase these at Violent Lips’ website and each packet of the tattoos contains three tattoos and is priced around $15. Each tattoo in the pack can be used only once.
What if you have chapped lips? Well, the nice peeps at Violent Lips have tested their products and they reportedly work well with Maybelline’s Quenched Baby Lips Lip Balm, Blistex Silk & Shine Balm, EOS Smooth Sphere and Sephora Collection Glossy Gloss in Clear.
Just make sure you wait 5 minutes for your Violent Lips to dry before applying anything over them. Also its advisable to apply balms and glosses using your fingers lightly so that you can control how much pressure and product goes over them.
Violent Lips tattoos can only be removed with mineral or baby oil (so if you want them to last, try to avoid eating oily food!) and not water. They have a matte texture upon application so top up with some gloss to give it some sheen.
