So we hear that the lineup for the 2012 edition of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, otherwise just more simply known as “Coachella”, has been released.
Last year, the festival saw the attendance of celebrities such as, Vanessa Hudgens, Alessandra Ambrosio, Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth, Paris Hilton, Usher, Rihanna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Penn Badgley, Chanel Iman, the list is endless.
This year, for the first time, Coachella will be held over two consecutive weeks in mid-April (13th to 15th and 20th to 22nd).
Run and promoted by AEG-owned concert promoter Goldenvoice since its 1999 inception, Coachella has had an increasing demand for tickets (tickets for the 2011 edition went in a record six days) and therefore, has pushed the people behind it to expand the festival.
When asked, Paul Tollett (the person who heads Goldenvoice) said, “We wanted to create access for as many people as possible. The thought of this selling out super quick, and the only people who get to go are the people who bought the fire minute or bought tickets for more than they sold for, that didn’t seem great to us.”
“We didn’t want to go with more people and ruin the experience. We can’t add a midnight show, and we didn’t want to add another city or raise the ticket price. So we decided to add another weekend.”
Rapper Dr. Dre, amongst other world-famous acts, will headline the multi-weekend, six-day affair. Slated to take the Coachella stage in Indio, California, are other artists such as Snoop Dogg, the Swedish House Mafia, Kaskade, Bon Iver, Arctic Monkeys, David Guetta, Afrojack, Mazzy Star, Hello Seahorse!, Sebastian Ingrosso, Feist, Radiohead, Avicii, and Madeon.
