Home girl dazzled the runway in NYC. 🍎
Talented fashion designer Sara Jamaludin from Taman Tun Dr. Ismail Kuala Lumpur, has successfully debuted her latest couture collection at New York Fashion Week 2017 — part of the Couture Fashion Week segment which was organised on Friday (8th Sept 2017) at New York’s prestigious Crowne-Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. (!!)
The collection from her eponymous fashion label, “Sara J”, showcased songket-based designs with traditional hand-woven fabric using gold and silver threads. These exquisite and luxurious garments have traditionally been used in the finest fashion designs for special occasions, in which Sara incorporates these beautiful fabrics into highly-wearable every day and demi couture designs.
It’s not a surprise that her creations captured the attention of many for combining modern art and traditional Malay elements in her gorgeous silhouettes.
When asked about the whole experience, Sara Jamaluddin revealed, “The whole experience was out of this world! I am so honored to be able to participate in the prestigious fashion week. From model selection to the way they work, everything is absolutely different from us.”
The fashion designer continued, “I had two fashion shows instead of one because our association Peniagawati managed to get another one for me. I was so lucky. Everyone was so helpful to make everything beautiful and run smoothly. In short, everything is too good to be true!”
Sara, who studied fashion in University Teknologi Mara (UiTM), has a diverse background and a global point of view. She launched the brand, “Sara J”, which includes modest wear, ready-to-wear, resort wear, bridal wear and demi couture back in 2011 and opened her first boutique in TTDI Plaza Kuala Lumpur in 2015.
Her designs have been showcased at numerous fashion shows locally and internationally since 2014.
