Everyone — fine, me — has been waiting on this moment for exactly 1013 days and it’s finally here!
After dropping news of her new album, cover art and music yesterday, Taylor Swift has released her latest single, “Look What You Made Me Do” today. Listen to the new song in the video above.
The song, 3-and-a-half minutes long, is essentially one big fuck-you to haters — especially those who are called Kimye. It’s poppy, aggressive, and we don’t know how to feel about it.
She reclaims the snake branding that’s followed her since last summer and uses it to revamp her image. The song includes lyrics about having people on her “list” and features a spoken-word line in the form of a voicemail message that says the “old Taylor is dead.”
That’s not all. As superfans, it took no time for Swifties to discover a couple more hints that Taylor Swift’s album may contain some sort of response to Kimye and their renewed feud. Perhaps the most obvious is the title: She is here to defend her #Reputation after it took a hit from the Kimye’s Snapchat takedown.
Then there’s the album art, which seems to have Yeezy vibes on it. Fans pointed out the font looks suspiciously like the one Kanye West used on his last release, The Life of Pablo, the album that contained the song “Famous”.

The overlapping text is also a tribute to Ye’s album.

Morever, superfans who dug deeper found that Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot her cover photo. The two guys are big fashion photographers who have worked with Yeezy and Kim Kardashian (as well as Swift) multiple times before.
They appear to be pretty close with Kim K, so Tay Tay tapping them to shoot her cover art could have been a deliberate nod to Kimye and their brand.

On top of that, fans also noticed that the sweater Swift’s wearing looks quite a bit like those in the Yeezy fashion line West puts out. The wet hair is also Kim Kardashian-esque:

Coincidence? Perhaps not, considering Taylor Swift does everything — from “13” easter eggs on her (old) Instagram to her original album social media blackout — will always be done with extensive thought and purpose.
Between her feud with Katy Perry and the whole Kanye West/Kim Kardashian drama, looks like the Snake Queen has got some juicy stuff prepared for us in her new album. Also, it’s interesting to note that Taylor released her new song just one day after Katy Perry released her new music video for “Swish Swish, Bish”.
Mean, girl.
