The ‘ding-dings’ at the airport, the sounds of buckling seatbelts and the safety video announcements that people pretend to watch, or not to watch — sound is not always the first that comes to mind when we think of travel, but we can agree that listening to certain melodies may transport us back to a special place and time.
Although it may never occur to you to stop and appreciate the tunes, jingles that precede all announcements at the airport are actually pretty wonderful.
With that said, to celebrate the seamless experience travellers enjoy, Airlines Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon have taken that concept and created something marvellous — The Sounds Of Travelling Well. Watch the video above for an instant spike of wanderlust.
Cataloguing the sights and, more importantly, sounds of the journey from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong then to Osaka and Kyoto, the song was composed from the thousands of ambient noises and constructed notes recorded over seven days.
It is so catchy that we couldn’t stop humming the jingle, even when we’re at work. Kudos to the beatmakers from Fuse Asia — the same people who gave life to Ikea’s “Get Cheras To Cheras” jingle.
That’s not all. From 25 July – 21 August, you could be one of the weekly winners to win a pair of round-trip flight tickets to one of the 10 selected destinations within Asia.
Head over to Sound Of Travelling Well for more information on the contest. Weekly winners will be announced on Cathay Pacific Malaysia’s Facebook page. Happy travelling!
