Back in February, there was a sneak peek of M.A.C‘s innovative pizza cutter liquid eyeliner backstage at New York Fashion Week and nope, it doesn’t have your typical brush or felt tip. Instead, it has a thin disk that spins, creating smooth, sharp strokes.
The Lipstiq team got our hands on the pizza cutter eyeliners in question ahead of its release here in Malaysia beginning August 2017, and you guessed it – we put it to the test and got it all on video. The ultimate question is.. is this yet another gimmicky product, or does it actually make lining the eyes that much easier?
Here’s what we thought about it right off the bat:

“I’ll admit it – I struggle with eyeliners just in general and I only ever use pizza cutters for, well, pizzas. MAC’s Rollerwheel Liquid Liner was tough for me to use – I often find myself messing up liquid liners as is so obviously I’d struggle with this. But, if I had a little more practice I’d probably be able to get it right. Either way, I love how the product is really pigmented and stays on for quite awhile, sans smudging.”

“I have one word for M.A.C’s roller wheel applicator – revolutionary. Although it may be hard to use at first, it gets easier once you try and understand how it’s supposed to work. Like calligraphy, avoid putting too much force with your hands and simply roll the applicator on your eyelid gently. That way, you’ll achieve a sharp and precise cat-eye liner look without hassle! I actually quite like it.”

“I’m not a pro at liquid eyeliner in the first place, so using this peculiar applicator was definitely a challenge, but I do believe that it just takes some getting used to. With that said, I found getting the wheel applicator super close to the lash line very difficult. It’s also easier if you do your eyeliner stroke in one quick swoop across the eye instead of going over it repeatedly because you’re only going to make the line thicker and increasingly crooked.”
