For the research, dog owners had to try and open containers in front of their dogs. Two scenarios were then presented: In the first, one researcher just stood there while the other helped the dog owner open the container, whereas in the other, one stood there while the other deliberately refuses the dog owner’s plead for help.
The furry friends were forgiving towards the researchers who didn’t do anything, but they became suspicious of those who refused to help, so much so that some pups even declined the treats they offered.
