If you’re a clean eating foodie and you’re on the hunt for your next favourite healthy noshing ground, you’re in for a treat. La Juiceria is back and they’re out to supercharge Malaysians one deliciously healthy meal at a time with La Juiceria Superfoods!
La Juiceria Superfoods at Verve Shops, Mont Kiara is reminiscent of its sister branch, Goodness Greens Cafe in TTDI. The ambience is welcoming, with a decor dressed in purple walls lined with pale wooden pallets, monochrome tiles and luscious bursts of greenery – distinctively highlighting the establishments philosophy of wholesome meals and nutritious drinks.
We teased our tastebuds with some of La Juiceria’s cold-pressed juices. The Cold-Pressed Fruit Tea (a concoction of premium tea, passion fruit, apple, orange, wildflower honey and alkaline water) proved to be a refreshing and sweet way to start our palettes off. But if you’re a fan of coffee, I hear the Vatte (Vegan Latte) is worth trying out.
The Truffle Mushroom Soup served here is fully vegan, but it tastes like the real deal. La Juiceria’s Almond Mylk acts like a substitute instead of cream, making the broth a little lighter (which is fine, if you ask me) and it’s got a generous drizzle of truffle oil that brings out the taste of the mushrooms beautifully. It’s also served with very lightly garlic buttered baguette slices to mop up the soup.
Next, we had the infamous Nasi Lemak Wrap. This was amazing and we can definitely see ourselves coming back for this. It’s basically “nasi lemak” quinoa with the works – chicken, egg, quinoa, cucumbers and a serving of sambal and air fried groundnuts and anchovies. We think the Nasi Lemak Wrap makes for a great substitute whenever you feel like having Malaysia’s favourite dish, minus the calories.
We also tried one of the Superbowls, namely the Teriyaki Chicken Grain Bowl (pictured above). It comes with grilled teriyaki chicken, quinoa, a soft boiled Kampung egg, mixed salad leaves, sesame seeds, seaweed and shoyu – kinda like your typical teriyaki rice bowl without the carbs. If you’re a teriyaki fan, this one’s for you.
The Smoked Duck Soba was a hit at our table. The smoked duck was flavourful and went well with the healthy and Shoyu sesame-dressed charcoal Soba noodles after a quick toss with the soft boiled Kampung egg – like comfort food, but way better for you.
If you’re feeling creative, you can even build your own gourmet salad! Pick from 3 different sizes – petite, medium or grand – and customise everything on your bowl from greens to toppings, supplementary ingredients and proteins! New on the protein variant is the grilled lamb forequarter, pleasing meat lovers everywhere.
Of course, no meal at a La Juiceria establishment would be complete without a raw cake or two from The Honest Treat. We sampled the Raspberry Chocolate – smooth, fudgy and full of berry goodness. Not a fan of berries? The Orange Chocolate is a well-deserving contender for your taste buds.
All in all, I’d say a trip to La Juiceria Superfoods is definitely worth the visit. After having meals at establishments that aren’t quite particular about nutrients or preservative-free foods, it’s nice to finally be able to dine at a place where you’re sure to get great meals with all the benefits. Who said healthy food needed to be bland, right?
