Just mention Pixi and all serious beauty aficionados will have a ton to rave about. Why? The London-born brand was created 10 years ago and yet has successfully remained one of the top cult favourite beauty labels up until today.
There is no wondering why Pixi has a loyal global following – its simple, fuss-free, innovative and multi-tasking products are formulated with natural botanicals and other skin-loving ingredients, made for urban women on the go whose lives simply demand more than just the necessities.
Although Pixi was once accessible to us here, the brand took a halt from the Malaysian market a couple years back, only to come back with a bang on Sephora.my. To learn about Pixi, we spoke to Colleen Lotta, Pixi Beauty’s Brand Educator, during Sephora’s Fall 2017 Press Preview.
Q: Though small, Pixi once had a brand presence in Malaysia prior to this. Are you guys excited about your return?
A: Oh my gosh, we are so excited to be back and return to this universal space. I know many of you are familiar with the brand and we are now finally able to engage with our beauty enthusiasts here.
Q: Who is Pixi made for exactly?
A: Pixi is made for everyone, even for those who are just starting out with skincare and makeup. What is offered by Pixi can also be incorporated into different regimens to complement other products. The age range is endless. Our stuff has really good ingredients too; everything is paraben-free and great for multi-tasking. Everything that you smell is purely from the ingredients as no artificial fragrances are added.
Q: Pixi’s skincare gets more word outside. What about your makeup?
A: Our makeup is amazing and the products contain similar wonderful ingredients used in our skincare. Hence, you will be able to treat and nourish yourself while wearing the makeup. For instance, the Natural Brow Duo has vitamin E and panthenol infused into the tinted brow gel, helping to strengthen the hairs. All our products have vitamins in them.
As for the availability of Pixi makeup in Malaysia, only the Natural Brow Duo and Endless Silky Eye Pen will be sold for now.
Q: What else can Pixi fans expect?
A: I am not quite sure about the assortment yet, but I do know that the team is looking through our entire list of products to decide what else to bring in.
Q: The #PixiPretties brand collaboration with four beauty and lifestyle influencers (Aspyn Ovard, Caroline Hirons, Judy Travis and Maryam Maquillage) has been gaining a lot of traction online. Are those products going to be available for purchase here at all?
A: As of now, we are online and the assortment you get here will be pretty small, so no, the #PixiPretties collaboration won’t be available here. In terms of growing our collection of products here, it is a matter of time and also depends on what our buyer wants to purchase. We also hope to eventually get in Sephora stores throughout Malaysia.
Q: Are the products from the #PixiPretties brand collaboration permanent though?
A: Those #PixiPretties products launched in January and will be with us until December this year. Unfortunately, you guys would have to get your hands on those via our U.S. or U.K. websites.
Q: What are your top three must-haves from Pixi?
A: Wow, that’s difficult! Definitely the Glow Tonic, Rose Oil Blend and the Natural Brow Duo. My whole makeup and skincare collection is from Pixi, so it’s really hard to decide on just three. It’s a sea of Pixi!
To further familiarise with the skincare and makeup by Pixi that are currently available online on Sephora.my, Lotta also took us through each and every one of them in her own words.
Endless Silky Eye Pen (RM84) – “We have this in three shades – Black Blue, Black Cocoa and Deep Plum. It is a gel pencil in a barrel form that glides on extremely smooth. You can smudge it out right after you apply it, but after one minute, it will not budge. You can also leave it in the fridge five minutes before sharpening or applying it for a more precise point.”
Natural Brow Duo (RM109) – “YouTuber Itsjudytime really loves this in the shade Deep Brunette. It has a triangular tip that will give you precision and definition, then tapers out to give you volume. On the other end, you have a tinted gel to set everything in place. It’s very forgiving to use and universally flattering.”
Glowtion Day Dew (RM112) – “This is a brightening lotion with mica and lavender in it. You can use it as a moisturiser, primer and even a highlighter as it has an iridescent radiance to it.”
Nourishing Sleep Mask (RM71) – “Our Nourishing Sleep Mask is an overnight skin treatment that deeply nourishes the skin while you sleep. It is infused with macadamia seed oil and hyaluronic acid, so it’s going to plump up the skin and boost hydration.”
Glow Mud Mask (RM71) – “Comprising sea salt and kaolin clay, this 15-minute facial deeply detoxifies the skin. You can also use the Glow Mud Mask as a spot treatment to banish breakouts.”
Glow Tonic (RM87) – “The alcohol-free Glow Tonic is of course our hero product that is infused with 5% glycolic acid, aloe vera, ginseng, witch hazel and horse chestnut. For those who are building their acidity, saturate a cotton round with a little water and every night for two weeks, use the Glow Tonic with a little water. Eventually, wean off the water to maximise the benefits of the 5% of glycolic acid. It gently exfoliates as well.
The Glow Tonic has many other uses too. You can use it to exfoliate the lips, as a post-shave treatment to prevent razor burns and bumps, transfer it into a spray bottle to be used as a face mist, and apply it on the elbows, knees and ankles to prevent streaking when using a self-tanner.
Caroline Hirons wrote about this product on her blog about four and a half years ago and it really set our phone lines on fire. Ever since then, this has been our hero, not only because of what she has written, but also what other people have experienced with it on their own.”
Hydrating Milky Mist (RM74) – “Fused with hyaluronic acid that plumps up the skin and oat that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, the rejuvenating Hydrating Milky Mist provides an instant surge of hydration.”
Glow Mist (RM93) – “Blended with 13 natural oils and argan oil, the Glow Mist has propolis which is a superfood bees create and it gives a quick, refreshing glow. It can also be spritzed on the hair to nourish the strands.”
Overnight Glow Serum (RM121) – “The Overnight Glow Serum has 10% glycolic acid that you use in the evening. Don’t forget that it needs to be followed up with sunscreen the next morning though. It has vitamins A, C, E, jojoba oil and arginine to strengthen the skin while repairing it.”
Rose Oil Blend (RM121) – “Aside from improving the skin’s elasticity, the Rose Oil Blend gives the skin radiance. The multi-purpose oil is very luxurious as it is a marriage of sweet almond, rosehip, pomegranate seed and rose geranium oils. You can mix it in with moisturiser, foundation, concealer, or even place it on your cuticles.”
