For Resort 2018, Carolina Herrera was inspired by the gardens of La Vega – the Venezuelan estate of the Herrera family.
Vibrant shades in the collection comes from a nostalgic memory of vibrant blooms like bougainvillea, jasmine, hibiscus and more found within the lush gardens of La Vega. Contrasts complement each other effortlessly in nature, interpreted by the designer as a “conversation between flowers.”
Like the gardens of La Vega, the new season is defined by florals and colors – embroidered jasmine on silk faille, pigment printed bouquets on feather weight wool, and hand-placed poppy appliques fill the collection with a sense of feminine elegance. The bright, crisp palette of peony, cobalt and aqua, with touches of black and white, expresses the fresh spirit of the season.
Daywear embraces fuss-free dressing with cotton and silk blouses, paired with tailored shorts and tea length skirts, shirt dresses with dropped waist and stripes in denim blue cotton.
The drama of the collection blossoms in evening wear – large-scale polka dots in prints and embroideries, hydrangea patterned jacquards decorate new, sleek and elegant silhouettes, while a tiered architectural black and white tulle gown underscores the glamour that is synonymous with the house of Carolina Herrera.
