The greatest celebrity social media beefs are the ones we never saw coming, and Miley Cyrus vs. Dolce & Gabbana over Melania Trump certainly checks that box. What a way to start Monday!
It all started with one of the less known member of the famous Cyrus family, who landed a pretty sweet modeling gig thanks to his hard work and nothing else. Apparently, Miley has a brother named Braison, and he made his runway debut in Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2018 show titled DG Millennials — alongside other notable young men such as Hillary Clinton’s nephew and Pippa Middleton’s new brother-in-law.

Miley’s shout out to her brother began straightforward enough as the pop star gushed about the 23-year-old calling him the ‘most talented musician my ears have ever been given the gift of hearing’ and praising him for ‘stepping out of his comfort zone’ on the catwalk.
Surprisingly, her post went south as she ended the caption with a political statement, ‘PS D&G, I STRONGLY disagree with your politics.’ Channelling her true self, the starlet just had to include a hearty serving about the politics of Dolce & Gabanna in her congratulatory post.

In case you missed it, D&G delights in dressing First Lady Melania Trump, and that’s in direct opposition to Miley’s own beliefs. But Stefano Gabbana was having none of it, and since the designer basically lives for this stuff, he almost immediately posted a reply on Miley’s original post, “Ignorant!!!” he wrote.”For your stupid comment we’ll never work with him again,” adding two heart emojis.
Then, because he can’t stop, won’t stop, Stefano reposted Miley’s ‘gram with an incendiary caption of his own. “We are Italian and we don’t care about politics and mostly neither about the American one! We make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it’s simply ignorant. We don’t need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us!!”

Of course, the Italian designer doubled down on the controversy by bringing back an old hashtag from a feud with Elton John, #BoycottDolceGabbana, and turning it into a $425 T-shirt for Mar-a-Lago regulars to buy and absolutely no one else.
Hmm, pretty sure Braison wouldn’t mind about this, right? After all, Miley Cyrus did publicly announce that “It’s never been my little brothers dream to be a model as HE is one of the most talented musicians my ears have ever been given the gift of hearing..”
On another note, D&G’s work with Melania hasn’t been their only recent brush with controversy. Founders Stefano Gabano and Domenico Dolce found themselves in hot water after the openly gay fashionistas expressed their disapproval for gay parenting and IVF.
“We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus; Life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,” said the designers in the piece titled ‘Long-Live the [Traditional] Family.’ They later issued an apology for the article in Vogue.
