Over the years, we may have seen some unique listings on Airbnb. From budget apartments, Geodesic domes with indoor pool to Malibu Safari Chic tents for glamping enthusiasts, the holiday rental platform offers everything anyone has ever dreamed of. And now, there’s a whole country up for grabs.
Sweden has turned its entire country into a listing on the holiday rental website, opening its doors, mountains and lakes to everyone to promote its national policy on free-roaming. All of it, from Malmö, within sight of Denmark, to Treriksroset, where the country meets with the borders of Norway and Finland.
In a collaboration with VisitSweden, Airbnb has listed the entire country on a separate portion of its site, to make this home available to everyone. Sweden’s philosophy of “Allemansrätten,” allows anyone to experience Swedish nature without having to spend money. All you have to do pay is respect.
On Sweeden’s Airbnb website, you can now find great swathes of the country’s landscape listed as places to stay. They are presented in the website’s usual format, with a basic description, plus details on the space available and extra amenities.
A statement from Airbnb said, “Every lake is your infinity pool, every mountaintop your granite terrace, every meadow becomes a garden and every forest a pantry filled with mushrooms and berries.”
“Feel free to take a morning jog or bike ride across open fields or trek through challenging mountain terrain. Should you want an upgrade, you do not need to ask anyone, just find the best location that suits you and your mood.”
Each of the entries on the site boast an open air roof, real air conditioning, and natural heating, stating things like “the infinity pool is always open” and a beech forest has a “built-in gym,” which sounds pretty sick if you ask us. On top of that, everything has 365-day availability, accommodates everyone, has unlimited beds, and check-in of “whenever.”
Still, we have a feeling that we’d still be in violation of some law if we barged into a private Swedish home and flopped down on the sofa, blazing up our magic conch shell. Check out Visit Sweeden or Sweden On Airbnb for more info. 🍀✈️
