Any dedicated Instagrammer knows that a carefully curated profile is extremely important and sometimes, that means you may have to delete old photos that you no longer like or that doesn’t mesh with the rest of your profile.
As of the latest update, Instagram users can now Archive photos, hiding them permanently, or temporarily from the feed, instead of impetuously deleting pictures that didn’t get enough likes or make one question themselves “why?”, a decision which we’ll usually regret later.
This wonderful new feature is an early test, which Instagram will continue to iterate and expand availability over the coming months.
To use the new tool, tap the menu icon in the top right corner of the post you want to hide. Hit archive, the first option on the menu, and the post will disappear off of your profile. It’s the same menu you use to edit, share and delete a post.
Similar to the feature that lets you privately save other users’ photos, the archive feature moves posts to a separate section of the app. Once archived, your followers will no longer be able to see the post, though you can still view comments and likes from before the post was archived.
You can also opt to re-share the photo back to your profile if you change your mind.
