TOMS, the brand known for starting a global movement through its One for One® business model – after 9 consecutive years of successful One Day Without Shoes (ODWS) events, has no longer limited itself to celebrating a day without shoes – TOMS has taken the chance to further build awareness for the 6 unique ways it works to make a difference.
For the past decade, TOMS and its annual ODWS celebration revolved around the importance of shoes for those in need. Over the years, TOMS giving has expanded with 5 other gives including sight, safe birth, safe water, kindness and time. Turning its course from tradition, today, TOMS celebrated all of these gives together on the same day, ONE DAY.
Celebrating giving and spreading awareness locally, TOMS Malaysia hosted a day filled with fun activities and invited the public to #StandWithTOMS and celebrate One Day at their TOMS store in Mid Valley Megamall on 12 May 2017.
In conjunction with the 6 gives, TOMS launched 6 exclusive GIVE pins which are available with any purchase at TOMS Mid Valley Store on the 12th May 2017. Each GIVE pin highlights each give TOMS stands for.
As of 13th May, TOMS Give Pins are available at all stores with a minimum purchase of RM250, customers will be able to choose one of any 6 TOMS Gives closest to their hearts. In relevance to all of TOMS gives, each activity during the event was thought through, allowing the public to experience what TOMS stands for.
From a Virtual Reality experience; allowing customers to experience with their own eyes where the other pair goes, to free eye tests by Menara Optometry professionals to fun sensory tests in the dark to talks on safe birth by Nadine Ghows, Founder of Gentle Beginnings and bullying prevention by Kenny Lim of The Befrienders KL, customers got an insight on how TOMS works for the better at the One Day event.
A fashion show was also held showcasing a range of the Spring/Summer arrivals modelled by Malaysia’s very own local celebrities The Sharifah Sisters; Sharifah Aleya with her son Ali, Sharifah Aleysha and Sharifah Aryana, Azura Zainal, Craig Morraies and Stephanie Lim. Also, attending the event was 2010’s Miss Malaysia Universe Nadine Ann Thomas, singer/song writer Amanda Imani and Chef Anis Nabilah.
To date, TOMS and its patrons has helped to provide over 70 million pairs of new shoes to children in need, restored sight for 445,000 individuals, provided 400,000 weeks of clean water, helped 70,000 mothers through safe birth as well as provided help to 44,000 youths through kindness.
