To be honest, all cake is good, no matter the frosting to cake ratio. But if we’re being completely honest, great cakes are palpably better. These options around Klang Valley are guaranteed to blow you away by the slice:

1. Tiny Temptress by L.Wendy – The Tiny Temptress started off as an online baking business in 2013 before launching physical cafes in Sri Petaling and Bangsar. Head on over to the Bangsar outlet – a charming pastel hued space dripping in whimsy and marble. We’re fans of the old fashioned Bugsbunny Carrot Cake – moist, dense and a delightful piece reminiscent of our childhood days.
Tiny Temptress by L. Wendy, No. 6B, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru, Bangsar.
2. 123 Gasing – Nestled within the old PJ area of Jalan Gasing is 123 Gasing, everyone’s favourite neighbourhood cafe. The ambience is cozy, calm and there are even boardgames and books for you to borrow. Also, the Classic Cheesecake here is the best we’ve had in a very long time. It’s equal parts tart, sweet, creamy and pairs well with a hot cup of Vanilla Chai Latte.
123 Gasing, No 123, Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya.
3. Jaslyn Cakes – Jaslyn Cakes is a tiny bakery in Bangsar that emphasises on using natural and top quality ingredients in whipping out their array of delectable honest to goodness cakes. We’re huge fans of Jaslyn’s Victoria Sponge cake. There’s nothing quite like a spot of organic tea and a slice of sponge cake, sandwiching layers of luscious cream and jam.

4. Alexis Bistro – For years, Alexis has been our go to spot for pasta, wines and cakes. We’re fans of the berry pavlova and the super sinful slice of tiramisu with strawberry sauce – a must have to seal a great night of good food and company at Alexis.
Alexis Bistro, 29, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru.
5. Le Trianon – Le Trianon limits its menu to only 2 types of cakes, with good reason. The boutique focuses on using only the best and premium ingredients in creating the most luxurious and sinful slices of dense chocolate cakes around. It’s also important to note that Le Trianon is only available for takeaways.

6. Fluffed Cafe & Dessert Bar – Located within Taman Paramount, Fluffed Cafe & Dessert Bar is home to cloudcakes, waffles, hand crafted ice cream and more. Head on over for the smooth and delicately flavoured Rose Lychee Cloudcake. As pretty as its name, the cloudcake features an airy sponge cake infused with rose water layered with cream and real lychee bits.
Fluffed Cafe & Dessert Bar, Jalan 20/7, Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya.
7. La Manila – La Manila is located within the suburbs of Taman Megah and its magenta and cream interior drips in a certain whimsy that takes you back to a Wes Anderson set. Cakes here are probably one of the more affordable slices you can find but their cakes and baked goods are still one of the best tasting ones around. We always find ourselves coming back for the Key-lime tart and the Banana Toffee Cake.

8. Souka Bakeshop – Souka Bakeshop is home to one of our favourite renditions of the Red Velvet Cake. Souka’s take of the Southern favourite is denser, richer, and comes with heaps of luscious cream cheese and leaves patrons of the cafe wanting more. Not a fan of chocolate? The Biscoff Cheesecake is the epitome of indulgence.
