BMW has just showcased its latest 5 Series to the world, and it’s more dynamic and luxurious than ever before. With its bones being built from those of the current 7 Series, looks like the premium car brand have a great starting platform for the new sedan.
Even when standing still, the all-new BMW 530i M Sport creates a powerful impression. The front end now features headlights that connect with the, now much wider, signature kidney grilles. We think the new front end looks very good and is a significant improvement over the F10-generation 5 Series, making it the best looking BMW 5 Series since the E39.
A new headliner with built-in soundproofing forms part of the interior’s acoustic design. The sound absorbers built into the headliner eliminate interfering sounds in the particularly sensitive area close to the occupants’ heads. This not only increases comfort but it allows for easier conversation between passengers.
Rear seats, as well as the fronts, now offer massage functions for the first time ever in a 5 Series. Eight different massage programs, each with a choice of three intensity modes, relax the muscles in the back and relieve the strain on the spinal discs while driving. The eight programs are subdivided into three categories: Mobilization, Relaxation and Vitality.
BMW also offers M Sport package, which includes the exterior M Aerodynamic package (front apron with larger air intakes, side skirt trim, a diffusor-style rear apron and an exhaust system with two# rectangular tailpipes), lowered M Sport suspension and M light-alloy wheels, in either 18 or 19 inch.
Inside, M sports seats with Alcantara covers highlight its sporting focus and are joined by the new M Sport leather steering wheel, exclusive floor mats, interior trim strips and aluminum pedals.
With improved athleticism, the all-new BMW 530i M Sport is a car not to be trifled with. Its engine is based off the newly developed, modular BMW EfficientDynamics family of power units, such as Twin Scroll turbocharger, High Precision Direct Injection, and Valvetronic for a full-on variable valve control.
Meanwhile, the Driving Experience Control system now provides access to a fourth mode, Adaptive, in addition to the Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro driving modes. The new mode works alongside Dynamic Damper Control (DDC) and Navigation System Professional wherein the steering, DDC and Steptronic systems automatically adapts to the current driving style and route ahead.
The latest-generation of iDrive is also available in the new 5 Series, with touchscreen and Gesture Control. While the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function adjusts pre-set speed to the traffic situation based on radar and camera data.
Approach Control Warning also warns the potential collision with a vehicle ahead at higher speeds, with preconditioning of the brakes for faster brake response and shorter braking distances. In case an accident is unavoidable, the city braking function helps reduce the impact speed and hence, the severity of the accident.
All in all, we think the car is great. Although the new BMW 530i M Sport design isn’t such a massive leap forward, the car marked improvement in every aspect, whether that be design, luxury, technology or performance.
