Not having an Internet connection while travelling to a foreign place can be extremely frustrating, especially when you’re dependant on your phone for directions or have no clue about their language. Fortunately, downloading maps for offline use on Google Maps could be your saving grace.
Although you’ll be able to access directions and view points of interest for the area you’ve downloaded, you won’t be able to obtain walking, transit or cycling directions while offline. Still, it’s better than nothing and could still be helpful for when you’re exploring around. Note that the maps will expire as Google updates them regularly, so just be wary.
