For over 50 years now, Genting Highlands has been an iconic Malaysian holiday destination, offering exciting money-can’t-buy experiences to eager visitors, on top of maintaining its status as the best theme park/entertainment hub locally. If you haven’t visited in a long time, you may want to start packing your bags now.
Although the much anticipated 20th Century Fox World theme park isn’t complete yet, we still have good news for you foodies. Resorts World Genting has recently unveiled its latest addition, the all-new SkyAvenue, a vibrant lifestyle and dining space with so many good restaurants, it is almost impossible to keep up with.
Thanks to Resorts World Genting, we recently popped by SkyAvenue for a first-hand dining experience at three proudly Genting-owned and franchised chain F&B outlets which are, as of now, the only standalone stores in Malaysia.
Lucky for us, UK’s renowned Burger & Lobster has opened its first outlet here in Southeast Asia at Genting Highlands. Imagine eating orgasmic Australian beef burgers and wild live lobsters from the waters of Nova Scotia, Canada which are flown weekly to the hilltop via KLIA.
Of course, the question is: Is it worth the hype? The answer is a big and undisputed YES.
The concept itself is brilliant. There are only three items on the menu including the burger, lobster and lobster roll, and priced from RM65 each, they offer fantastic value. An example of a meal you won’t regret indulging in consists of a whole fresh lobster grilled to perfection, a generous bowl of lemon butter dip, served with a side salad and a bucket of fries.
The burger patties on the other hand are served in a custom baked sesame seed brioche bun, topped with the restaurant’s in-house pickles and secret sauce. Meanwhile, the lobsters are steamed or grilled with B&L’s famed lemon and garlic butter, available in three signature styles, The Original, Big Boy and a special option only available in Malaysia, Chilli.
Evidently, the food is uncomplicated and there’s nothing too fanciful, just remarkably delicious fare that you’d be able to enjoy with good company.
Another lavish eatery which franchise got acquired by the hilltop resort is Motorino Pizzeria, dubbed as the best pizza chain in New York. The pizzeria allows patrons to choose from ten stellar favourites, from the stripped marinara to the supreme Italian and Colatura featuring cow’s milk mozzarella.
The most eye-catching features which take centrestage at the restaurant are the two large and traditional brick-ovens which were shipped in directly from Naples, enabling guests to witness the entire pizza-making process. After all, nothing beats freshly made pizzas.
Aside from that, SkyAvenue houses Malaysia’s first Cafés Richard, a celebrated French cafe with a classy Parisian-chic atmosphere that enables guests to experience the authentic French art of living. Though it emulates its French counterparts very closely, there is a unique signature drink, French Genting, that is concocted exclusively for Resorts World Genting.
Enjoy French delicacies or savoury foods, as well as artisanal roasted coffees, teas or an array of alcoholic beverages. There are also breakfast, lunch and dinner course menus, besides high tea options like pastries and sweets, desserts and savoury canapés.
With all that said, our recent foodie adventure to SkyAvenue has been highly memorable. Burger & Lobster, Motorino Pizzeria and Cafés Richard are situated side by side at Level 1, SkyAvenue of Resorts World Genting.
