Instagram Will Start Blurring Images For A Safer User Experience

While you’re busy looking at stunning photos of lobster rolls, jealously-inducing vacation shots, and beautiful faux-professional photography on Instagram, the site’s moderators are constantly working behind the scenes to keep offensive content from reaching your eyes.

As part of an effort to build a safe environment, the photo-sharing app is taking its efforts to the next level by obscuring some images and videos that have been reported as sensitive content, with a blurred overlay screen when you scroll through your feed or visit a profile.

“While these posts don’t violate our guidelines, someone in the community has reported them and our review team has confirmed they are sensitive,” Instagram said. “This change means you are less likely to have surprising or unwanted experiences in the app.” If you’re still interested in looking at the censored content, simply tap at the bottom of the image to reveal the photo or video.

On top of that, two-factor authentication is now available to all Instagram users. To activate it, tap on the gear icon in their profile and choose Two-Factor Authentication. This means that users will be required to enter a code each time they log into the app.
