Great news, Emoji fans. New emojis are coming your way!
Earlier this month, Unicode, the group in charge of reviewing and approving all new emoji proposals, released a beta version, giving us a first look at new emojis. Though the beta version won’t be finalised and released until June 2017, we’ve got to say that these previews are pretty awesome!

Among the 69 new characters that will be released, there are some themes that we’ve been waiting for – winter activities as well as mythical creatures (think fairies and wizards, YEAY!) has a large presence in the update. There are plenty of fresh faces, some new people and hand gestures, and some much needed food orders.
And while there are already a few gender inclusive options, other emojis that have been out of the picture for way too long include a woman with a hijab, a male version of Tinkerbell, and a woman climbing a wall.
Basically, the emojis are good – like, really good. If the timing is the same as last year, most iPhone users will probably need to wait until iOS 11.1 or 11.2 is released this Fall to get their hands on them. For now, let’s all celebrate in the fact that there’s finally a tapau emoji to add to the mix.
