revisionsAbout two years ago, Malaysian actor and director Afdlin Shauki briefly mentioned of his film project he’s developing with Hollywood filmmaker Roger Christian, which depicts the story of a Japanese-run Prisoners of War camp in Sandakan, Sabah during the World War II where many Australian and British soldiers perished.
Now, the project – Sandakan Tears – finally has name and an estimate of RM67.2 million would be required for the production of the movie. Shauki has also voiced his longing to have esteemed Australian actor Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in Logan, on board.
The film’s first draft, which is supported by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and written by two Hollywood scriptwriters over the span of one year, is now ready and the hopeful director is now in the midst of looking for global investors as well as recceing for locations around Sandakan, Australia and Pinewood studio.
The second draft is now underway and once ready, it will be delivered to Hollywood for revisions in order to attain international standards.
