Apple fans were jolted out of bed this morning when the tech giant dropped a crimson-shade finish news with the unexpected announcement of limited edition (RED) iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, along with 9.7-inch iPad and new video-editing app, Clips in partnership with (RED) to mark 10 years of partnership with the global consumerism brand.
(RED) was set up by U2 front-man Bono and philanthropist Bobby Shriver, and donates funding to worthwhile causes. This collaboration is not new for Apple, as the innovative brand has released a series of special edition (RED) products in the past years including iPods, iPads, iPhones, a one-of-a-kind Macbook Pro which auctioned at $977,000 as well as a one-of-a-kind pair of solid gold Apple EarPods, auctioned for $461,000.
Available in 128GB and 256GB configurations, the special edition iPhone 7 (RED) is basically the same iPhone 7 but with a striking new red skin and an altruistic bent, with each purchase helping support HIV/AIDS prevention and research. The iPhone 7 will retail from $1229 (RM5446), while the iPhone 7 Plus starts from $1419 (RM6288)
The device will be available to order from 24th March, Friday and will start delivering to customers and arriving in Apple Stores the following week.
