Michelle Yeoh will join Constance Wu in Warner Bro‘s adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s New York Times best-selling novel, Crazy Rich Asians. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film which features an all-Asian cast, centers on the lives of wealthy Chinese families living in Singapore.
The story follows Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), an American-born Chinese economics professor, who travels to her boyfriend Nick’s hometown in Singapore, only to find out he’s from an impossibly wealthy family, making every single woman in his ultra-rarefied social class incredibly jealous of Rachel.
Meanwhile, Michelle Yeoh is set to play Eleanor Young, Nick’s controlling mother who disapproves of Rachel and wants to bring her down.
The legendary actress who is Chinese Malaysian, has starred in many blockbuster movies such as 1997 James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Star Trek. Meanwhile Constance Wu has become a breakout star due to her performance as lead character Jessica Huang on the ABC series Fresh Off the Boat.
